So the past few days, Jin and I have been doing some obligatory highly touristed activities. They have been much fun, believe you me, much fun and highly unoriginal. But hopefully, we bring our own originality to the mix. First, a vignette on my travel companion. Jin, my college room mate, ever playful with language, and desperately lacking in Spanish skills, has terribly mispronounced the local currency.

Ended up having to stay in Cartagena even longer than planned as my debit card wasnt working so had to wait a few days for that! Finally left at 5am on Friday and got a 4 hour bus to Santa Marta and then a taxi to Taganga! An American girl recommended a hostel to me which I went to - soooo nice! Pool, amazing breakfast, hammocks, free internet etc! :o).

Good morning travelers! I hope your weekend didn’t speed by too fast. The good news is that we’re working our way toward a long Labor Day holiday weekend. Enjoy. Labor Day travel | The Automobile Club of Southern California (AAA) reports that despite travel decreasing slightly this year for Labor Day, 594,000 California residents will be flying to their destinations and 3.5 million California residents will be driving.

Once more this weary traveler delays sleep to broadcast her intrepid adventures.......geez I´m exhausted.... I left off just before we went to the ¨New Town¨for some shopping (me? shopping?). And once again I have made some fragile purchases.

I have just spent the last two days in Puerto Iguazu in Argentina, to visit the famous Iguazu Falls. On the first day I took the trip to see them from the Argentinian side, as well as take in a 'Deliverence' type trip down the river ( just to reaquaint myself with my friends the mosquitos!), and a speedboat trip that includes getting 'baptized'.

We don´t know how the idea of a road trip got in our head, but after checking out the cost of hiring a car in Uruguay ($57 a day - but you get th 22% VAT back!) we decided to spend a few days driving along the Uruguayan coast. By complete luck (although Adam claims that it was his planning), we had a bit of a heat wave whilst we were on our drive. Score. Driving along palm-tree lined roads next to white sandy beaches is not as much fun in the rain.

We just we had dinner in the cheesiest place... "Los Vikingos" where the chairs were viking men's bodies, covered in fur, the walls were covered with animal skeletons, axes, flags of diff countries like Spain and Germany, everything was just wooden and covered in fur. It was a mad cheesy themed restaurant. I had once again another chacarero and papas fritas. hehe. That's it for tonight.

Left Buffalo Bill's Hunting Lodge and entered Yellowstone Park heading for 'Old Faithful'. Lots to see and do in the park. Saw Moose and baby moose, steam venting from the earth, smell of sulphur, gorgeous fishing rivers, and Old Faithful which erupts about every 90 minutes. There are numerous geysers in the park that erupt regularly. Night Stop - Deer Lodge, Montana.

I know its been a while and we have no excuse so you are not getting one. The south island was much the same as the North, lots of drinking partying and meeting some even cooler people. the only difference was EXTREME SPORTS. Our first stop was Wellington which is quite a big city and quite Boring really, our only highlight was the hostel room that we managed to wangle.

Cobblestone streets zig zag up either side of a steep canyon: full of mini buses, vans and taxis that collectively define anarchy better than any dictionary. There are absolutely NO rules. No need for indicators. Traffic lights occasionally exist, more occaisonally work and even more occaisionally yet they are followed. Crossings are not crossings. Lanes are not lanes.

mountain After the scenery of the Fiordland we headed north for more fun in Queenstown, activities centre for the whole of New Zealand. Unfortunately, on our first day there it absolutely poured down with rain and we couldn't really do anything! The next day we awoke to much brighter skies, so set off to enjoy everything the town had to offer.
