Raise your hand if you've had to change your travel plans in the last year due to budget constraints. Just about everybody, huh? Travelers who fly to their vacation destinations have had a rough time this year. Fares are up across the board, except in the cases where whole airlines have ceased operations entirely.

When I left England last October I never dreamed that I would end up in the Galapagos, land of the giant tortuga, the archipelago that is home to wildlife that exists nowhere else on the plant, totally fearless wildlife that you can practically rub noses with. But, I was in Ecuador.

We are struggling with each other. She’s an Aussie, but I won’t hold *that* against her! She duly noted I’m a kiwi, but that wasn’t the issue for her either. She can’t get her head round eight kids. Having kids is OK. Travelling is fine. Travelling with kids is even acceptable in her books (though she does point out the parents she’s observed on the road have trouble - eek!).

On the descent into Miami, the pilot announced that things could get a little bumpy as there were storms in the area. Within a minute it felt like the plane entered a 3 second asteroid field. It was violent but thankfully brief…sweaty palms again for me, while Sam sat back and enjoyed the ride!

Only one California water park — Raging Waters in San Dimas — cracked the Top 15 in annual attendance for 2007, according to figures released by InPark Magazine.
